i got hurt....

apologies to all those who have been checking and who didn't know..

i had surgery..on my beloved apendix.

the once useful pinkie sized organ was removed at midnight last friday evening after being decided that it was too large for my body and too icky to be useful......mind you it was an extremly handsome and wonderful french surgeon who made that call!

after much rest and conditional love (my mamma g came to paris to take care of her little daughter) i am MUCH better and finally able to make the trek up the 6 flights of stairs up to my apartment.

i will return with pictures and more action in paris soon.

ps- get ready for some shots from ISRAEL as i am visiting very very soon!!!!!!

The newest fabric......

I started with the type....and then i transferred it onto fabric.

I first put the silver background boxes on by hand...and then used a stencil i made with the letters and went crazy....

A plastic bag....

These unfamiliar objects in front of you are pieces of plastic which i have knitt together in some sort of shape....my idea? let me start first with the project....make an accessory by either knitting or crocheting....i decided to cut up plastic bags and garbage bags, tie them back together to make yarn...and knitt them!!! Here are two of the pieces so far....

Mayra's an ORANGE LADY....

for one of her crazy foundation classes, they made you take pictures of yourself, and then figure out, mathematically how to get every angle of your head...so that in the end you had, well, a 3D version of your head....i've just never seen anything like it before....(she obvioulsy had to make herself look rasta like...so well, you can see her rasta cap holding in all of her dreads!!!!)

My version of embroidery......

A lonely trip down south.....

I went down to Bayonne in the south western part of France (5 hours from Paris) to pick up a friend of mine who has just completed the EL CAMINO walk from St.Jean Pied du Pont in France all the way to Santiago, Spain.....unfortunately, he couldn't get a plane into bayonne...and so, I had a sweet little 24 hour vacation to myself....

La nuite blanche.....(aka a wild art night in paris)

On saturday night all of paris' museums, art galleries and some funky shops stayed open until about 3am for parisians, or those of us who wish we were, to wander and explore the city of lights....here mayra and i ventured around the marais to the Pompidou centre for some traditional 'fem phal' (?) music...tubas, trombones, saxaphones...the whole deal...even a crazy guy who balanced a bottle on his head for attention!!!!

the inspirational one.....

Fear has a way of throwing us off balance, making us feel uncertain and insecure, but it is not meant to discourage us. Its purpose is to notify us that we are at the edge of our comfort zone, poised in between the old life and a new one.
